GA4 and BigQuery

GA4 data in BigQuery, set up and kept under control

The BigQuery export gives you every GA4 event, unsampled, to query and report on. It also needs looking after: who can run what, which queries feed which reports, and what it all costs.

Problems we fix

Export never switched on

Historical event data lost because the link was never set up.

Nobody knows what runs

Scheduled queries and connections pushing data to sheets and tools, undocumented.

Unclear permissions

Everyone able to run anything, with costs and access unchecked.

Old projects lying around

Redundant Google Cloud projects from past setups.

Raw data nobody can use

Nested event tables that need SQL nobody on the team writes.

Reports on sampled data

Decisions made on GA4 interface reports when the full data is available.

What the work involves

  • GA4 BigQuery export setup
  • Access, roles and cost controls
  • Documentation of scheduled queries and connections
  • Clean-up of redundant Google Cloud projects
  • Reporting tables for Looker Studio

How it's priced

Most jobs are estimated in hours before we start. Small fixes are billed in 30-minute increments.

Everything is billed at the same £75 hourly rate, cheaper in blocks. No retainer, no contract, and everything is built in your own accounts. See pricing.

GA4 and BigQuery questions

Is BigQuery expensive?

For most GA4 exports, storage and normal querying cost little. Costs grow with heavy or badly written queries, which is why governance matters.

Do I need it?

If you need unsampled data, longer history, or to join GA4 with other data, yes. For basic reporting, GA4 alone is usually enough.

Can you document an existing setup?

Yes. Often the first job is working out what's already running and who relies on it.
